
The Chess Instructor will be responsible for:
Teaching fundamental to intermediate chess concepts, including rules, tactics, strategy, and sportsmanship.
Facilitating engaging lessons, small-group practice, friendly matches, and chess tournaments.
Supporting homework time, behavior expectations, and program routines as needed.
Creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for students to learn and grow.
Communicating student progress, needs, and concerns with site leadership.
Helping students build confidence, critical thinking skills, and a love for learning through chess.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates should have:
Demonstrated chess knowledge and a strong understanding of the game.
Coaching, competitive chess, or teaching experience preferred.
Experience working with youth in an after-school, camp, classroom, or mentoring setting.
Availability Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
Strong communication skills, patience, reliability, and classroom management abilities.
A positive attitude and a passion for helping students succeed.
