Miami-Dade County — Project Connect has been awarded a grant from Miami-Dade County to support Project Connect Rapid Rehousing, a new initiative designed to provide comprehensive case management services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
The program will offer extensive support including rental and utility assistance, food, transportation, moving support, gas, household supplies, furniture, and security deposits—helping participants establish stable housing and long-term independence.
Araxa Jaramillo Hernandez has been appointed as Program Manager and will oversee the delivery of services, ensuring that residents receive tailored support to meet their immediate and long-term needs.
“Housing insecurity is at the heart of so many challenges our community faces. Without a stable place to call home, families struggle to find steady work, children struggle in school, and the cycle of poverty deepens. This grant allows us to directly address that core issue by providing not just shelter, but the resources and support needed to rebuild lives with dignity and hope,” said Ebony Johnson, Executive Director of The Resource Room.
“Every day, we see firsthand how homelessness impacts Miami-Dade families and their children — from the stress of uncertainty to the loss of stability that every child deserves. Project Connect Rapid Rehousing is about restoring that foundation, giving families not only a safe place to live but also the chance to rebuild their futures with confidence and hope,” added Araxa, Program Manager of Project Connect Rapid Rehousing.
This initiative reflects Project Connect’s ongoing mission to connect families to successful, building on over 23 years of service to students, families, and community members across Miami-Dade County.
